THE WESTLIFE'S HISTORY

Westlife who have formally been known as a number of names, 6 as 1, I.O.U and Westside, began their wild adventure in the sleepy town of Sligo, in the West of Ireland. And OMG did u catch the hair-cuts in IOU?? I mean I know Mark like to have a laugh but to pinch his mums best mop and dye it black I ask you!! The three school friend’s Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily all grew up together, attending the same school and staring in the same school performances together. All three had the dream to become a famous popstar. (How cute did they all look in Grease bless them?? I wanted to mother Shane in that.)
With a little help from Shane’s mum, Mae Filan, who had a word with Louis Walsh, she finally got the ball rolling to make her youngest son and his two friend’s dreams begin to come true. As Louis didn’t have enough time in his hectic schedule to manage another boyband, that is where Westlife’s saviour Ronan Keating stepped in to help them along with the ride. As I.O.U progressed, three of the members were dropped and auditions were held in Dublin for a fourth position. This however, is where Bryan McFadden and Nicky Byrne come in. AND HOW DO YOU DECIDE BETWEEN THESE TWO BEAUTIFUL DUBLINERS??
Both are from Dublin and were also friends. As no body could choose between either of the talented blondes, it was decided that I.O.U would become a five member boy band, this leading to Westside. They first supported the Backstreet Boys on tour in Dublin in 1998. The audience loved them and they continued with their success. In early 1999 however the five Irish lads found their name had to be changed as it belonged to previous bands. This forming the name Westlife that symbolises the fact that three of them are from the west of Ireland. Okay So where the hell does the life bit come from?? Just curious, I can be very blonde at times. It was in April 1999 that the lads went on to release their first single Swear It Again, which went straight in at number one on the British and Irish charts, being the biggest selling debut single ever. From that moment on, Westlife were well on their way to fame! And the rest as they say is history, we have been lucky enough to watch and listen to the five lads for a long time now, oh! be still my beating heart. Anyway I’d better put these papers away and get out of Mark’s room before he get me arrested.
